The Power of Voice
The current state of the world has left me in an unusual state …quiet.
I’m constantly thinking maybe if I posted a blog series on developing a purpose lead business or shared more stories on innovation to transform a sector that would help.
Then I experience paralysis of ‘well people might think AI wrote it anyway’ or ‘what if the angry anti equality trolls bombard me’ and I procrastinate to tomorrow.
Being quiet and procrastinating are not usual states for me so after spending long enough in these states to know I’m ready for something new, I’m giving myself time to be surrounded by inspiration and permission to create a context for action that inspires me.
Heather Cox Richardson is my current default inspiration. Her regular Facebook lives remind me that bullying should be named, when people disagree it’s okay to ask for the facts of their argument and that continuing to just take the next best action is sometimes all that is needed. When I imagine students in 100 years studying the historical period which is the now we’re living through, I imagine how outbursts of bullying, privileged white men represent the final expression of a culture shifting. I imagine how this moment is the break from masculine hierarchical traits to feminine nurture traits (and either gender can express these traits), how this moment is a redirection of tech for control to tech for collaboration and from identification with the place you live to identification as a member of the human race.
Increasingly I’m finding writing, art, music and culture that brings this context to life and creates a foundation for my being an innovator, business leader, community builder and using my voice.
So procrastinating and being quiet is back on the ‘Not Doing That Now’ to do list
